The Curvelle quaranta is a superyacht catamaran constructed of carbon hybrid composite in Istanbul Turkey. The yacht has been developed by YachtMarketing Ltd. Its founder Luuk V. van Zanten put together a team of designers, naval architects and marine engineers from various continents to realise the stages from concept to final award winning product.
Continue readingAll started with the idea of developing a great new yacht concept, with the priority of creating a large play area in the stern with a large swimming pool and lounge area with wide view of the sea and with the challenge of having a great clearance between floors. The design would then have to be completely different from the already designed today. I drew a profile so that the upper deck was interrupted course, thus forming the double foot straight aft. Large side windows and large column form the profile of a harmonic way and aggressive.

As most boats are used during daytime, cockpit space is very important. However, most boaters seek a bathroom for their family, and a comfortable bedroom for their kids, so they can extend their time aboard, and even sleep in the boat if they wish.

The look is curvy and sensual, with the great amount attention to detail invested in it visible throughout. Dynarig sailing system, Cauta has two self-standing and rotating masts which host ten sails. Floor-to-ceiling columns plus archways and curved transom windows add architectural weight and visual grounding. Lower-level pool features hand painted mural where forced-perspective creates illusion that a pathway behind the fully-functional fountain is always moving away from the observer.
